- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through repeated load draws simulating the PUCRC15 motor under carpet and upholstery suction. The BMS held stable across sustained draws and recovered cleanly from momentary overcurrent spikes caused by blockage simulation.
- Dock charge discipline on the PUCRC15: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock continuously. Ni-MH cells in this vacuum degrade significantly faster under trickle charge than under normal charge-and-remove cycles. Charge fully, then disconnect from the dock until the next use.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator shows low on the PUCRC15
Ni-MH cells under motor load show voltage sag before the pack reaches true depletion. On the PUCRC15, the motor draws peak current across thick carpet or upholstery, pulling cell voltage down temporarily even when the battery indicator still reads mid-range. A degraded cell sags further and faster, so suction weakens well before the indicator triggers. Replacing an aged cell restores the flat discharge curve the motor relies on to maintain consistent airflow.
Motor cutting out mid-use then recovering after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. It happens when the filter is partially blocked — restricted airflow forces the motor to spin harder, drawing more current than the BMS threshold allows, so the circuit opens. After a brief cooldown the BMS resets and the motor restarts. Clean or replace the filter first. If the cut-out persists on a clear filter with a fresh cell, measure pack voltage under load — a healthy cell should hold above 6.0V during normal motor draw.
