The Blade 15 Base draws hard on the battery when the CPU and GPU boost simultaneously under gaming load. A new cell's EEPROM carries no discharge history, so the fuel gauge IC has no learned model of the cell's voltage curve. The system firmware sees the voltage drop under load and interprets it as a critically low charge state, triggering shutdown even when the indicated percentage reads 20–30%. Running two full discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles gives the fuel gauge IC enough data to map the new cell's actual voltage profile.
BIOS reporting battery health as "poor" or "replace" immediately after installation
This is an EEPROM mismatch, not a fault with the replacement cell. The old battery wrote its degradation data and cycle count to the system's battery health registers, and those values persist after a swap. The BIOS reads stale data from its own stored record rather than pulling fresh readings from the new cell.
