Record STA2 / STA21 — 19.2V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (130081000D)
This 19.2V, 800mAh Ni-CD battery is the backup power source for Record STA2 and STA21 automatic door operators. It sits in standby inside the door controller and activates when mains power fails, keeping the door operational until power restores. Voltage and capacity match the original: 19.2V, 800mAh (15.36Wh).
- STA2 and STA21 compatibility: Both models use the same 19.2V Ni-CD backup battery pack with identical connector pinout and BMS handshake. The controller firmware recognises cell count across both variants — swapping battery packs between these two models does not require reconfiguration.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated charge-discharge sequences and simulated a mains-fail event. The BMS held steady voltage during motor start surge and completed a full door cycle without tripping the low-voltage cutoff.
- Post-install power-fail test: After fitting the new battery, manually trigger a power-fail test during a low-traffic period. Automatic door backup batteries must be verified under real load — a full open or close cycle — before returning the door to normal service. Charge the pack for 24 hours before running this test.
Battery backup not activating during mains failure on the STA2
The STA2 backup circuit only engages when the battery holds a charge above its activation threshold. A pack that has sat in standby for several years loses capacity through self-discharge and cell degradation — even if it shows no fault on the controller display. When mains power drops, the controller checks battery voltage before switching over. If the pack is too depleted, the backup circuit stays off and the door freezes in its last position.
STA2 controller losing door programming after a power outage
The STA2 stores door travel limits, speed settings, and obstacle sensitivity in volatile RAM. That RAM is kept alive by the backup battery during mains interruptions. When the battery can no longer hold sufficient charge, even a brief outage wipes the stored program. After fitting a new battery and charging it fully, re-enter all door parameters and run a full self-learn cycle so the controller resets its travel limits correctly.
