This is a 5000mAh, 3.84V Li-Polymer cell sourced to OEM part number BN5T, fitting the Redmi 13 smartphone. It restores full power to the display, processor, and radio stack when the original cell has degraded or failed. Capacity figure is 19.2Wh, matching the original specification.
- Redmi 13 cell fitment: The BN5T uses a specific connector orientation and BMS handshake matched to the Redmi 13 charge IC. Swapping an unmatched cell can prevent the charge controller from initiating a charge cycle at all.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the BN5T through full charge and load cycles on the Redmi 13 mainboard. The BMS accepted charge protocol correctly, and cell voltage held steady across screen-on and modem-active load states.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins.
Why the Redmi 13 shuts down suddenly at 20–30% after a cell swap
The fuel gauge IC stores a charge curve calibrated to the old cell. When the new cell hits a voltage point the IC doesn't recognise as low, it misreads remaining capacity. Under sudden load — screen brightness spike or LTE handoff — the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold before the OS registers the warning. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate rewrites the coulomb counter baseline. After that cycle, percentage readings stabilise and cutoff trips at the correct low-voltage point.
Fast charging not activating on the first cycle after BN5T installation
The Redmi 13 charge IC runs a handshake with the BMS before it escalates to high-current fast charge mode. On a new cell, the BMS may respond outside the expected voltage window during the first cycle, causing the IC to fall back to standard 5V charging. This is not a fault in the replacement cell. Fully deplete the battery to below 10%, then charge from cold using the original cable — the handshake completes correctly on the second cycle and fast charge resumes at the expected rate.
