This is a 3.89V, 4900mAh lithium-polymer cell built to the BN5P specification for the Redmi Note 13 smartphone. It fits the 23090RA98C model variant and slots into the same physical envelope as the factory cell — 89.60 × 63.80 × 4.70mm. Capacity matches OEM at 19.06Wh nominal.
- Note 13 and 23090RA98C compatibility: Both model numbers reference the same hardware platform. The BMS handshake, flex connector pinout, and voltage rail requirements are identical across these variants, so one cell covers both without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Note 13 unit. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake on the first cycle, thermal limits stayed within spec under sustained screen-on load, and cutoff voltage held at the expected floor under modem activity.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use after fitting, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard rate. This gives the coulomb counter IC a clean reference curve for the new cell before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated gauge.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
The Note 13 uses a coulomb counter that was calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity curve, so the gauge misreads remaining charge and cuts the phone before the cell is actually empty. The modem and display together draw enough current to trigger a voltage sag below the shutdown threshold — even when the reported percentage looks safe. One full discharge-to-zero followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the coulomb counter reference. After that cycle, shutdowns at 20–30% typically stop.
USB-PD fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement
Some BN5P cells will not accept the fast-charge handshake on the very first charge cycle. The charge IC checks BMS authentication before stepping up current, and a new cell's BMS may respond outside the expected timing window until it has completed one baseline cycle. If fast charge shows as inactive in the notification bar, charge once at standard speed to full, then unplug and reconnect — the protocol negotiation completes correctly on subsequent cycles. Check Settings → Battery to confirm fast charging is re-enabled; the toggle should not need to be changed manually.
