Cradle contact resistance and charging errors on a new pack
Charging docks used in high-rotation stocktake fleets accumulate oxidation and debris on the gold contact pads faster than most users expect. A new battery with clean contacts inserted into a worn dock can register a high-resistance fault, which the charger reports as a battery error rather than a dock fault. Wipe the battery contact strip and the dock pins with a dry cloth before the first charge. If the error persists, try a second dock from the fleet — this isolates whether the fault is the pack or the cradle.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
On the RM-1, the wireless radio and the scan trigger draw current simultaneously during fast-fire scanning. When an aged or deeply discharged battery cannot sustain the combined inrush, cell voltage sags below the radio module's minimum threshold and the connection drops — even if the scanner appears to power on normally. This is not a network or pairing fault. Charge the replacement pack fully before use; a cell at 4.2V at cycle start eliminates the sag event that causes the dropout.
