RTI T2B / T2C / T3 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ATB-1200)
This 3.7V 1100mAh Li-ion battery replaces the ATB-1200 in RTI T2B, T2Cs, T2C, and T3 programmable universal remote controls. It restores power to the remote's wireless transmission and IR output functions. Voltage and capacity match the original RTI specification exactly.
- T2B, T2Cs, T2C, and T3 compatibility: These four RTI remotes share the same battery bay dimensions and 3.7V single-cell Li-ion power rail, which is why one ATB-1200 replacement covers all of them. The connector orientation and BMS communication protocol are identical across the series.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We seated the battery in a T2B remote and cycled through IR transmission and RF command sequences. The BMS held a stable 3.7V nominal rail throughout and the low-voltage cutoff triggered cleanly at the expected threshold without false shutdowns.
- Single-cell Li-ion handling: RTI remotes draw very low current during standby, but IR burst transmission pulls a short high-current spike. Do not leave the remote discharged for extended periods — a single Li-ion cell left at zero volts for weeks can drop below the BMS recovery threshold and refuse to accept a charge.
Why the ATB-1200 cell drops below IR trigger threshold before the low-battery indicator fires
Li-ion cells deliver a fairly flat discharge curve down to around 3.4V, then voltage drops sharply. RTI remotes trigger the low-battery warning late in that curve, so users often see normal operation right up until commands start failing. The IR LED needs a minimum current burst to reach the sensor on a TV or amplifier — when the cell can no longer supply that burst cleanly, commands drop out before the battery icon appears. Replacing the cell at the first sign of reduced range, rather than waiting for the indicator, avoids this gap.
Remote completely unresponsive after fitting the new battery
This almost always comes down to cell orientation. The ATB-1200 is a slim Li-ion pouch cell with a keyed connector, but it is still possible to seat it with reversed polarity if the connector is forced. Check that the positive terminal on the battery aligns with the positive marking in the bay — the remote will show no signs of life at all if polarity is reversed. If orientation is correct and the remote still does not respond, confirm the connector is fully clicked in; a half-seated connection on this form factor reads as an open circuit. Reseat until you hear or feel the click, then press any button to wake the remote.
