Ryobi BB-1600 / BHT-2600 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (B-1013L)
This is a 10.8V 1500mAh lithium-ion battery built to the B-1013L specification. It fits Ryobi BB-1600 and BHT-2600 cordless tools — compact drills, impact drivers, and hedge trimmers running on the 10.8V platform. Capacity figure is 1500mAh (16.2Wh), matching original Ryobi spec for these models.
- BB-1600 and BHT-2600 platform fit: Both models share the same 10.8V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers both tools without any adapter or wiring change.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a BB-1600 drill. The BMS held cutoff voltage correctly at the low end and accepted charge without fault codes on a standard Ryobi 10.8V charger.
- Motor inrush conditioning on first use: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before full-torque applications. This allows the BMS to log the motor's inrush current signature and set overcurrent thresholds accurately before you drive fasteners at maximum load.
BMS cutoff on BB-1600 motor-start inrush surge
The BB-1600's motor draws a short, sharp current spike the moment the trigger engages. On a new or recently stored pack, the BMS has no stored current profile for that motor, so it may trip the overcurrent protection before the motor reaches running speed. The pack reads as dead even though the cells are fully charged. Two or three partial-load trigger pulls recalibrate the threshold and the cutout stops.
Charger not recognising the pack after storage
If the battery sat in storage for an extended period, cell voltage can drop below the minimum acceptance threshold most Ryobi 10.8V chargers require to begin a charge cycle — typically around 8V on this platform. The charger LED blinks red or shows no response at all. A brief recovery charge using a compatible charger with a "wake" or "trickle" mode can bring the cells back above the acceptance floor. If you don't have a recovery-capable charger, connect the pack, wait two minutes, then disconnect and reconnect — some chargers will attempt a recovery pulse on the second connection.
