Saflok CL-08 — 6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (DL-21)
This is a 6V, 1500mAh lithium-manganese dioxide battery for the Saflok CL-08 electronic door lock. It replaces OEM part DL-21 in commercial and hospitality deployments. At 9Wh, it matches the power draw profile of the CL-08's wireless locking mechanism and access control circuitry.
- CL-08 lock compatibility: The Saflok CL-08 requires a tightly regulated 6V supply to drive the locking motor and maintain the RFID/keycard reader. Li-MnO2 chemistry holds a flat discharge curve across that range, which prevents the voltage sag that causes read errors during access events.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through cold-start motor actuation sequences on the CL-08 platform. The BMS held within spec under repeated lock-engage and lock-release draws without triggering overcurrent cutoff.
- Post-swap access verification: After fitting this battery, test every access method — keypad, keycard, and any mobile credential — before closing the door. The CL-08 runs a firmware handshake after power interruption, and some access modes will not accept credentials until that sequence completes.
Why the CL-08 shows low battery immediately after a fresh install
The CL-08 reads battery state at startup by sampling open-circuit voltage. Li-MnO2 cells that have been in storage for extended periods can show a surface voltage dip — the lock interprets this as a depleted cell and flags low battery before any real discharge has occurred. The fix is to actuate the lock two or three times to burn off the passivation layer on the cell surface. Voltage stabilises quickly, and the low battery indicator clears on its own once the lock re-samples above its threshold.
Lock motor engages but the latch does not fully throw after battery swap
A partial latch is almost always a voltage delivery problem, not a mechanical one. If the battery connection is not fully seated, internal resistance rises and the motor receives insufficient current to complete the throw cycle. Remove the battery, check the contact pins for debris or oxidation, then reseat the DL-21 firmly. Confirm the lock completes a full throw cycle by listening for the motor to reach its end-stop — the CL-08 motor sound changes noticeably when the latch seats at full travel.
