It fits the original battery slot directly and matches the connector and BMS handshake requirements of the FPCN10A platform. Capacity is rated at 11.1Wh, consistent with the OEM specification.
- FPCN10A platform fit: The FPCN10A uses a 7.4V two-cell Li-ion configuration with a specific BMS handshake that the radio's charging circuit must recognise before it accepts current. This replacement pack carries the same voltage rail and connector pinout, so the radio's protection circuit responds the same way it does with the original.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through transmit-cycle loads simulating PTT bursts on the FPCN10A platform. The BMS held stable across repeated high-draw spikes and did not trigger overcurrent cutoff under normal transmission patterns.
- First insertion on the FPCN10A charger dock: If the dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The FPCN10A charger requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before it begins charging.
Why the FPCN10A cuts out mid-transmission on a freshly inserted battery
New Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically around 3.7V per cell, not the 4.2V full-charge ceiling. When you press PTT, the transmit current spike hits the BMS before the cells have been brought up to operating charge. The BMS reads the voltage drop under load as an undervoltage fault and trips the output. Charge the pack fully before the first transmission shift — the dock should show green before you key up.

The FPCN10A uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator — it reads pack voltage directly and maps it to bars, with no fuel gauge chip involved. A new cell sitting at storage voltage will read one bar lower than a fully charged pack of the same capacity. This is not a fault with the replacement battery. Charge the pack to full and the bar reading will align with the OEM pack at the same state of charge.
