Samsung DV200 / DV300 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP88A)
This is a 3.7V, 700mAh Li-ion replacement for the Samsung BP88A battery cell. It fits the DV200, DV300, DV300F, and DV305 compact camera bodies. Voltage and capacity match OEM spec — the camera's charge indicator and remaining-shot counter work as expected once the cell is accepted by the body's BMS.
- DV200 / DV300 platform fit: These four models share the same BP88A battery bay dimensions, contact pin layout, and 3.7V supply rail. The BMS handshake is identical across the range, so one cell SKU covers the full group without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the DV300F body and confirmed the BMS accepted charge from both the camera USB port and a compatible external charger. Discharge curve tracked within spec from full charge to low-battery cutoff at approximately 3.0V.
- First-use charge cycle on the DV series: Run the first full charge from inside the camera body rather than an external cradle. The DV300 and DV300F BMS maps voltage thresholds to the remaining-shots display during this cycle — skipping it can cause the indicator to jump between readings until a body-charged cycle is completed.
Why the DV300F battery percentage jumps on a fresh replacement cell
The DV300F uses a voltage-threshold map to estimate remaining charge rather than a fuel-gauge IC. A new cell's discharge curve differs slightly from a worn OEM cell, so the camera's threshold map can read the same voltage as a different percentage. After one or two full charge-and-shoot cycles inside the body, the displayed percentage stabilises as the BMS recalibrates its reference points. If the jump persists past two cycles, check that the cell contacts are clean and seated flat — a poor contact connection causes voltage-drop spikes that confuse the threshold map.
Camera body shows "no battery" after installing a valid BP88A replacement
Samsung's compact BMS runs a contact-resistance check at power-on. If the replacement cell arrives partially discharged, this check can fail and the body refuses to initialise the cell. Insert the battery and connect the camera to USB power for 10–15 minutes before attempting to power on — this primes the cell voltage above the BMS acceptance threshold, which sits at approximately 3.2V on the DV series. If the "no battery" screen persists after that initial charge, reseat the cell, confirm the gold contacts on both battery and bay are free of debris, then repeat the USB charge step.
