Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Galaxy A13 5G after a cell swap
The Galaxy A13 5G uses a coulomb counter that was calibrated to the original cell's voltage-versus-capacity curve. A new cell has a steeper voltage cliff near the low end of its charge window. When the modem fires during a call or the screen brightness spikes, current draw pulls the cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold before the OS percentage reading reaches zero. The phone shuts down even though the gauge still reads 20–30%. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate resets the fuel gauge IC to the new cell's actual curve and eliminates the premature cutoff.
USB-PD fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement
Samsung's Adaptive Fast Charging protocol on the A13 5G requires the charge IC to read a valid BMS response before it steps up to high-current delivery. On a fresh cell, the BMS may not have completed its initialisation handshake on the first plug-in, so the phone defaults to standard 5V/1A trickle charge. This is not a fault with the charger or the cable. Complete one full charge cycle from under 10% to 100% at standard rate — on the second cycle, the BMS handshake completes and fast charging resumes at the expected voltage.
