About this replacement
Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BA320ABE)
This is a 3.85V, 2350mAh Li-Polymer cell built to the EB-BA320ABE specification. It fits the Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 and all SM-A320 variants, including the SM-A320FL and the TD-LTE model lines. Voltage and physical dimensions match the OEM cell exactly — 74.30 × 39.40 × 4.90mm.
- SM-A320 variant compatibility: The SM-A320, SM-A320FL, and TD-LTE variants share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and 3.85V nominal rail. One cell covers all of them without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge on a Galaxy A3 2017 unit. The BMS accepted the cell, charge IC ramped normally, and no fault codes triggered on the protection circuit during CC-CV transition.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Galaxy A3 2017 after a cell swap
The Galaxy A3 2017's fuel gauge IC retains the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When a new cell with a steeper voltage cliff at low state-of-charge is installed, the IC misjudges the remaining capacity. The phone's modem or display pulls current, voltage drops below the protection threshold, and the device cuts out — even though the reported percentage still reads 20–30%. One full discharge to auto-shutdown followed by a complete charge cycle forces the coulomb counter to re-anchor to the new cell's curve.
Device will not power on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage. If this cell shipped at a low state of charge and sat unused, the cell voltage may have dropped below 2.5V — the threshold at which the BMS trips into deep-discharge lockout to prevent permanent damage. Plugging in a charger may show nothing for several minutes while the charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold. Use the OEM Samsung charger or a 5V/1A source and leave it connected for at least 15 minutes before attempting to power on.
