About this replacement
Samsung Galaxy A8 2018 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BA530ABE)
This is a 3.85V, 3000mAh Li-Polymer battery for the Samsung Galaxy A8 2018 and its variants, including the SM-A530 and SM-A530N. It replaces the original EB-BA530ABE cell when the existing battery no longer holds a charge or causes unexpected shutdowns. Fits Galaxy A8 2018 TD-LTE models as well.
- SM-A530 series coverage: All SM-A530 variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — a single cell spec covers the full lineup without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on an SM-A530F, confirmed BMS communication, and verified the charge IC accepted the cell without fault flags on the second cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This allows the fuel gauge IC to recalibrate its discharge curve against the new cell before high-current fast charging pushes additional load into an uncalibrated coulomb counter.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity fault. A new cell with a slightly different discharge curve can reach the modem's minimum voltage threshold while the fuel gauge still reads 20–30%. The phone cuts power to protect the baseband processor even though the displayed percentage says otherwise. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% uninterrupted — this resets the coulomb counter reference points and corrects the cliff.
Phone warm near the battery bay during the first charge
A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in one. During the first charge, the charge IC pushes current into a higher-resistance cell, and that resistance converts some energy to heat. This is normal for the first one to two cycles and drops off as the cell conditions. If the device is hot to the touch — not just warm — at any point above 3.85V input, stop charging and check that the battery connector is fully seated.
