Samsung Galaxy Beam / GT-I8530 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EB585157LU)
The EB585157LU is a 3.7V, 1800mAh Li-ion cell that fits the Samsung Galaxy Beam and its GT-I8530, GT-I8550, and GT-I8558 variants. The Galaxy Beam runs a built-in projector alongside the standard smartphone load — that dual draw accelerates cell degradation faster than typical handsets. This battery restores full capacity when the original cell can no longer hold charge under that combined load.
- GT-I8530 / GT-I8550 / GT-I8558 compatibility: These variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits the full family without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the EB585157LU through charge and discharge cycles on GT-I8530 hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the fuel gauge IC began tracking normally from the first full cycle.
- Projector load recalibration tip: On first use after installation, complete one full discharge-charge cycle with the projector off. The fuel gauge IC needs to map the new cell's discharge curve against a stable baseline load before projector sessions add their high-current draw on top of an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% when the projector is active
The Galaxy Beam's projector pulls significant current on top of the display and modem load. When the cell voltage dips under that combined draw, it can cross the BMS cutoff threshold while the OS still reads 20–30% remaining. This is a voltage cliff — the fuel gauge IC is reporting state-of-charge from a curve calibrated to the old degraded cell, not the new one. Run two complete discharge-charge cycles without the projector to let the coulomb counter recalibrate, then retest under projector load.
Phone won't power on after the battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the EB585157LU drops below approximately 2.5V per cell the BMS enters lockout to prevent damage — the phone will not respond to the power button or a normal charger. Connect the device to a wall charger, not a PC USB port, and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power on. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell above the BMS re-enable threshold before normal charging resumes. If the charging indicator does not appear after 30 minutes, try a different cable and confirm the charger outputs at least 5V 1A.
