The Galaxy Book 12.0 drives a large 12-inch display and maintains a persistent WiFi connection — both active simultaneously pull enough current to create a voltage sag at the cell terminals. When cell voltage drops under combined load, the BMS interprets it as a hard low-voltage event and cuts power before the percentage gauge catches up. The OS reports 18% or 20% remaining because the fuel gauge is reading resting voltage, not loaded voltage. After completing the full discharge-then-charge recalibration cycle, the fuel gauge IC re-maps the new cell's discharge curve and the premature shutdowns stop. If it persists beyond two full cycles, confirm the display brightness is not set to maximum during the calibration run.
Fast charging unavailable after battery swap on Galaxy Book 12.0
The Galaxy Book 12.0 uses USB-PD negotiation to enable fast charge — the charger and device handshake on the first accepted charge cycle after a new cell is installed. Before that handshake completes, the charge IC defaults to standard 5V input only. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Plug in the original Samsung charger, let the first full charge cycle complete without interruption, and USB-PD fast charging resumes on the next connection. Confirm you are using a USB-PD capable charger rated at 12V/2.1A or higher.
