Why the Galaxy C7 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
Samsung's fuel gauge IC builds a charge map against the original cell over hundreds of cycles. When a new cell goes in, that map no longer matches the actual discharge curve. The IC keeps reading state-of-charge against old data, so the percentage shown on screen drifts from reality. One full discharge down to auto-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the IC to re-anchor its coulomb counter to the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the fuel gauge IC's voltage map is still calibrated to the old cell's internal resistance profile. Under modem or display load, the new cell hits a voltage cliff the IC wasn't expecting, and the phone cuts power before the displayed percentage reaches zero. It is not a faulty cell — it is an uncalibrated gauge. Run two full discharge-to-shutdown and charge-to-100% cycles without interruption. After the second cycle, the IC's threshold map resets and the shutdown floor drops back to the correct level near 3.2V.
