This is a 3600mAh, 3.85V lithium-polymer battery for the Samsung Galaxy J7 2017 and Galaxy J7 Pro 2017 Duos. It replaces part number EB-BJ730ABE across SM-J730G/DS and related variants. Capacity is 13.86Wh — matching the original cell specification.
- J7 2017 and J7 Pro 2017 Duos compatibility: These models share the same physical cell format, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The SM-J730G/DS and TD-LTE Duos variants draw from the same voltage rail, so one cell covers the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on SM-J730G hardware. The BMS communicated correctly with the charge IC on each pass, and the fuel gauge IC accepted the cell without throwing calibration errors after the first full cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and complete one full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the J7 2017 after a cell swap
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity fault. Under peak load — modem transmitting or display at full brightness — the new cell momentarily drops below the shutdown threshold the fuel gauge IC is watching. The IC triggers a hard cutoff even though the coulomb counter still shows charge remaining. One full recalibration cycle — full discharge to below 5%, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — resets the threshold mapping and eliminates most of these events.
Phone won't power on after sitting in storage for several months
Lithium-polymer cells self-discharge in storage. If the cell drops below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters a lockout state and blocks charge current to prevent thermal runaway on a deeply discharged cell. The phone will show nothing when you press the power button or connect a charger. Connect to a wall adapter — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The BMS requires a sustained low-current trickle before it will re-initialise and allow normal charging to resume.
