Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Galaxy M32 after a cell swap
A new cell with a discharge curve the fuel gauge IC has never seen will cause the OS to misread remaining capacity. When the modem fires up for a call or the AMOLED panel hits peak brightness, the actual cell voltage drops below the system cutoff threshold — even though the percentage on screen still shows 20–30%. The phone shuts down because voltage, not percentage, triggers the hardware cutoff. One full discharge to auto-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the coulomb counter and clears the mismatch.
USB fast charge not negotiating on the first cycle after replacement
Samsung's Adaptive Fast Charging protocol requires the charge IC to handshake with the BMS before stepping up current. On a fresh replacement cell, the BMS may flag an uncalibrated state-of-charge and hold the charge IC at standard 5V/1A until it completes one baseline cycle. This is not a fault — it is a protection state. Charge the phone once at standard speed with the screen off, let it reach 100%, then reconnect with the original Samsung charger to trigger the full AFC negotiation at the correct 9V/1.67A rate.
