Samsung GreatCall Touch 3 / Jitterbug Touch 3 — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EB-B130AU)
This is a 3.8V, 1500mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the original EB-B130AU / EB-B130AE battery in the GreatCall Touch 3 and Jitterbug Touch 3. It also fits Samsung SM-G310R5 and SM-310 variants running the same hardware platform. Voltage and capacity match the stock specification exactly.
- GreatCall Touch 3 / Jitterbug Touch 3 platform fit: These two devices share identical PCB layouts, connector pinouts, and BMS handshake logic — both accept the EB-B130AU cell without modification. The fuel gauge IC on each reads the same charge curve.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge-discharge sequence on the SM-G310R5 platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first insertion, charge termination fired correctly at 4.2V, and no cutoff events occurred under screen-on load.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging if available and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle before normal use. The phone's coulomb counter is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle lets it map the new cell's curve and report accurate percentages from that point forward.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the GreatCall Touch 3 after a cell swap
This happens because the phone's fuel gauge IC still holds the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a voltage point the old curve mapped to 20–30%, the OS reads it as critically low and initiates shutdown — even though real charge remains. The fix is one complete discharge cycle with the screen on and mobile data active, letting the coulomb counter relearn the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity relationship. After that cycle, the shutdowns stop and the percentage readout stabilises around the correct 3.6V low-end threshold.
Phone won't power on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the voltage dropped below roughly 2.5V per cell, the BMS trips a deep-discharge lockout to protect the cell from irreversible lithium plating. The phone will show nothing on screen — not even a charging indicator — for the first 10–20 minutes on a charger. Leave it connected to a wall adapter at 5V; the BMS uses a trickle pre-charge current to bring the cell back above the 2.9V recovery threshold before allowing normal charge current. Once the charging icon appears, the cell has cleared lockout and will charge normally from there.
