It fits the SM-230, SM-230UN, SM-231, SM-235, and related variants that share the SP4073B3H OEM part number. Install it when the original cell no longer holds adequate charge or the tablet shuts down unexpectedly under load.

- Post-install fuel gauge reset: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual capacity curve and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that appear after any cell swap.
Why the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 shuts down between 15–25% remaining
The Tab 4 7.0's fuel gauge IC was calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity slope, so the IC misjudges the low-voltage cliff. Under combined display and WiFi load, actual cell voltage can drop faster than the IC predicts, tripping the low-voltage cutoff before the reported percentage reaches zero. Running one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle then a full uninterrupted charge lets the IC relearn the new cell's curve and eliminates premature shutdowns.
Fast charging unavailable on the SM-230 after a battery swap
The Tab 4 7.0 uses adaptive fast charge negotiation that ties charge rate acceptance to a completed prior charge cycle. Immediately after a cell swap, the charge IC may default to standard 5V input until one full charge cycle confirms the new cell is present and stable. If the fast charge indicator does not appear, connect the tablet to the original Samsung adaptive charger and allow one full charge cycle to complete from under 10% to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, adaptive charging resumes normally.
