Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 10.5 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BT835ABU)
This 3.8V, 7300mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original EB-BT835ABU battery in the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 10.5. It fits the SM-T830 and SM-T835 variants, including the 2018 TD-LTE model. Swap it when your Tab S4 drains unusually fast, fails to charge past a certain percentage, or shuts down unexpectedly under load.
- SM-T830 and SM-T835 compatibility: Both Wi-Fi and LTE variants of the Tab S4 10.5 use the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — the EB-BT835ABU fits both without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on SM-T830 hardware. The BMS accepted the cell on first contact, reported capacity correctly after one recalibration cycle, and held voltage within the expected 3.6–4.35V window throughout.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the fuel gauge IC against the new cell's actual capacity curve and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that typically appear right after a battery swap.
Tab S4 shutting down at 15–25% remaining
This happens because the display backlight and active Wi-Fi together draw enough current to cause a sharp voltage sag in a degraded or freshly installed cell. The BMS reads the voltage drop as a low-battery cutoff event and trips before the fuel gauge percentage catches up. On a new cell, this resolves after one full recalibration cycle — discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% uninterrupted. If shutdowns persist past two full cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated and that no pins are bent.
Fast charging not available on the Tab S4 after a battery swap
The Tab S4 uses Samsung's Adaptive Fast Charging protocol, which requires the charge IC to complete at least one accepted charge cycle before negotiating higher wattage. After a battery swap, the tablet often defaults to standard 5V charging on the first cycle. Plug in with the original Samsung charger and cable — third-party cables frequently lack the wiring needed for the handshake. Once one full charge cycle completes, the fast charge indicator should reappear in the notification shade on the next plug-in.
