Samsung Tab A8 10.5 (SM-X200 / SM-X205) — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HQ-6300SA)
This is a 3.85V, 6750mAh lithium-polymer battery for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 10.5-inch tablet. It fits SM-X200 (Wi-Fi) and SM-X205 (LTE) variants. If your Tab A8 10.5 drains fast, holds no charge, or won't power on, this cell replaces the original HQ-6300SA or HQ-6300SD directly.
- SM-X200 and SM-X205 fit: Both the Wi-Fi and LTE versions of the Tab A8 10.5 use the same physical cell size, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One battery covers both variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through a full charge and load cycle on a Tab A8 10.5. The onboard charge IC accepted the cell without fault flags, and the BMS reported state-of-charge correctly after one calibration cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after install: After fitting this battery, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff — don't force it off — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. The Tab A8 10.5's fuel gauge IC calibrates against the new cell during that first full cycle. Skipping this step causes the percentage display to read inaccurately for weeks.
Why the Tab A8 10.5 shuts down between 15% and 25% remaining
The Tab A8 10.5 drives a large IPS display and maintains a Wi-Fi or LTE radio simultaneously. Under that combined load, cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC can track. The BMS sees the voltage fall below its cutoff threshold before the displayed percentage reaches zero. A degraded or new uncalibrated cell makes this worse because the fuel gauge is still mapped to the old cell's discharge curve. Running one full discharge-to-shutoff cycle and recharging to 100% re-maps the curve and pushes the cutoff point back down toward 5–8%.
Fast charging not available on the Tab A8 10.5 after a battery swap
Samsung's adaptive fast charge on the Tab A8 10.5 relies on a successful USB-PD negotiation handshake between the charger, the charge IC, and the battery's BMS. On a fresh cell, the BMS sometimes rejects the higher voltage on the first accepted charge cycle and falls back to standard 5V charging. This is not a fault with the charger or the battery. Connect the original Samsung 15W adapter and complete one full uninterrupted charge to 100% — after that cycle the charge IC re-establishes the fast charge handshake and higher wattage charging resumes.
