About this replacement
Samsung VC-RA84V Series — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (DJ96-00113A)
This is a 14.4V, 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Samsung VC-RA84V and related cordless vacuum models. It fits the VC-RL84VR, VC-RL84V, VC-RL84VC, and more than ten additional variants in the same range. The OEM part number is DJ96-00113A.
- VC-RA84V and RL84 series fit: These models share the same 14.4V power rail, battery connector, and BMS handshake protocol. A single replacement cell covers the full range without modification or adapters.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge-discharge cycles on the VC-RA84V platform. The BMS accepted charge without fault codes, and motor start-up current draw stayed within spec across repeated cold starts.
- Dock charging discipline on these vacuums: Samsung's VC-RA84V dock delivers a trickle current when the battery reaches capacity. Leaving the vacuum docked permanently accelerates cell degradation in Ni-MH chemistry. Charge to full, then remove from the dock until the next use.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
The VC-RA84V motor controller reduces power output when cell voltage sags under load — this happens before the indicator LED triggers. A clogged filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, which accelerates voltage sag on the battery. The vacuum then reads as low-power even though the battery still holds charge. Clean or replace the filter first, then test suction under normal carpet load.
Motor cuts out mid-clean, then restarts after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is restricted — blocked filter, full dust canister, or a stuck floor-head seal — the motor pulls sustained high current. The BMS cuts the circuit to protect the cells, then resets after a few seconds of cooling. Clear the blockage and empty the canister before restarting. If the trip repeats on a clean filter, check that the floor-head seal is not compressing and restricting airflow.
