- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a VP-D series body. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, protection circuits triggered correctly at low-voltage cutoff, and the charge termination voltage held at 8.4V as expected for a 7.4V nominal Li-ion pack.
- First-cycle acceptance on Samsung camcorder bodies: Run the first full charge through the camcorder body itself, not a third-party external charger. Samsung's onboard BMS on these models performs an initialisation handshake during the first charge cycle — skipping this step can cause the battery-remaining indicator to misread from the first use.

Samsung's battery-remaining display on the VP-D series maps voltage thresholds to a fixed lookup table calibrated for the original cell's discharge curve. A new replacement cell — even one at the correct capacity — can have a slightly different discharge curve shape, causing the indicator to jump between levels non-linearly. This is a display calibration issue, not a fault with the cell. Run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles through the camcorder body and the indicator will stabilise as the BMS learns the new cell's curve. After conditioning, the display should hold steady through the mid-charge range above 7.2V.

This happens when the replacement cell arrives in a low storage state and the camcorder's BMS reads the resting voltage as below its minimum acceptance threshold — typically around 6.0V on these bodies. The camera will display a dead or no-battery indicator even though the cell is not fully discharged. Place the cell in an external Li-ion charger first and bring it to at least 7.0V before inserting it into the camcorder. Once the body sees a voltage above threshold, it will accept the pack and allow normal charging to proceed.
