Samsung VP-X220L / SC-X300L Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SB-P180A)
This is a 3.7V, 1800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Samsung VP-X220L and SC-X300L series camcorders. It replaces OEM part numbers SB-P180A, SB-P180AB, and SB-180ASL. The cell fits directly into the battery bay without modification.
- VP-X220L and SC-X series compatibility: These camcorders share the same 3.7V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One cell covers the full model range listed, including the SC-X210WL and SC-X205L.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on SC-series hardware. The BMS handshake completed on first insertion, and the protection circuit responded correctly to end-of-discharge cutoff at low voltage.

Samsung's battery indicator on these models maps the remaining percentage to a charge curve calibrated during that first full cycle — skipping it causes the display to read inaccurately from the start.
Why the VP-X220L battery indicator jumps or reads 0% on a new cell
Samsung's VP and SC series camcorders use a voltage-threshold method to estimate remaining charge. A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve profile than a used OEM battery, so the indicator can misread the state of charge on early cycles. The camera maps fixed voltage steps to percentage points, and if the cell hasn't been calibrated through a full charge-discharge cycle in the body, those thresholds shift. Run one complete charge from flat to full inside the camcorder to let the indicator re-anchor to the new cell's curve.
Camcorder not recognising the battery on first install
These Samsung camcorders perform a brief BMS authentication check when a battery is inserted. If the cell ships at a low storage charge, the camera may not complete that handshake and will display no battery or fail to power on. Remove the battery, insert it into the OEM charger or camera body via USB power, and let it charge for at least 15 minutes before reinserting. If the camera still doesn't respond, check that the three contact pins on the battery are clean and fully seating against the body's connector — a charge to at least 3.5V is required for the BMS to respond.
