Battery percentage jumping around after fitting a new cell
The YH-920 uses a voltage-threshold fuel gauge — it reads state of charge by sampling cell voltage, not by tracking actual coulombs in and out. A fresh cell has a slightly different voltage curve than a worn original, so the indicator recalibrates over the first few charge cycles. Expect the percentage to read inaccurately or jump in the first two or three full cycles. Run the battery down to auto-shutoff and recharge fully each time — by cycle three, the displayed percentage stabilises.
Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty
The audio amplifier in the YH-920 draws a voltage spike when driving headphone output at higher volumes. At the tail end of a discharge curve — typically below 3.5V — that spike is enough to pull cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold, triggering a shutdown even though the gauge still shows remaining charge. This isn't a faulty battery; it's voltage sag under load on a depleted cell. Lowering playback volume extends usable charge near the end of a cycle, and the player will recover its indicated percentage once voltage stabilises at rest.
