Scantronic i-on Compact — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BAT01)
This is a 7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Scantronic i-on Compact alarm panel. It slots into the backup power compartment and keeps the panel running during a mains power failure. The OEM part reference is BAT01.
- i-on Compact panel fit: The i-on Compact uses a dedicated 7.2V Ni-MH cell pack with a specific connector and physical footprint. This battery matches those dimensions (86.50 × 51.80 × 14.60mm), the voltage rail the panel charges at, and the BMS handshake the control board expects before accepting the cell as valid.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the i-on Compact charge circuit and confirmed the panel accepted the battery, moved through charge stages correctly, and cleared its low-battery fault flag within the expected conditioning window.
- Post-install stabilisation: Do not run a zone or siren test immediately after fitting this battery. Allow 24–48 hours on float charge first. The panel samples backup voltage before triggering diagnostics — testing too early will cause a false low-battery report even with a healthy new cell.

The i-on Compact does not report battery status from a single voltage snapshot at installation. It monitors the cell over a charge cycle before updating the battery status flag. A freshly installed Ni-MH cell at partial charge will read below the panel's acceptance threshold until it completes a full float cycle. Leave the panel on mains power for 24–48 hours — the low-battery indicator should clear once the cell holds above 7.0V under light load.
Alarm losing programming during a power cut after battery replacement
If the panel loses its zone settings or user codes during a mains outage shortly after a battery swap, the new cell had not yet been accepted by the backup circuit. The i-on Compact conditions the replacement cell over roughly 48 hours before it is treated as a live backup source. Until conditioning completes, a mains drop leaves the panel without sufficient voltage to hold RAM. Restore mains power, allow 48 hours of uninterrupted charging, then confirm the panel holds programming through a brief mains-off test.
