Why the Easyport BMS rejects a new cell on first installation

This is a known behaviour with lithium-manganese dioxide cells: resting voltage after long storage drops measurably but recovers fully after one complete charge cycle. Run one full charge before expecting the device to clear its battery status indicator.
Self-test failure persisting after battery swap
If the Easyport continues reporting a self-test failure after installing this battery, the BMS learn cycle has not completed. The device requires one full charge-discharge cycle to calibrate against the new cell's actual capacity. Power the unit down, charge fully to 12V nominal, then allow it to run through a complete self-test sequence from cold start. Do not attempt to use the device in a clinical setting until it passes this post-swap self-test.
