This is a 7.4V, 2500mAh lithium-ion battery for the Severin Chill AH7914 and HV7144 cordless handheld vacuums. It replaces OEM part number 4874048 directly. When the original cell degrades after repeated charge cycles, suction drops and runtime shortens — this battery restores the vacuum to full operating condition.
- AH7914 and HV7144 compatibility: Both models share the same 7.4V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell replacement covers either unit without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the AH7914 platform. The BMS responded correctly to both the charger handshake and the motor's current draw at full suction speed — no overcurrent trip on start-up.
- Dock charging on the AH7914: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock permanently. Continuous dock connection exposes the cell to trickle charge voltage indefinitely, which accelerates capacity fade. Charge to full, then remove it from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
This is a voltage sag issue, not always a battery failure. When the filter is partially blocked, the motor pulls harder to maintain airflow, drawing more current than rated. That current spike causes cell voltage to sag under load, and the vacuum's motor controller interprets the sag as a near-depleted battery and dials back power. Clean the filter first — if suction recovers and holds, the original battery likely had capacity fade. If suction still drops with a clean filter and a fresh cell, check the motor for debris around the impeller.
Motor cuts out mid-use, then recovers after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When airflow is restricted — clogged filter, blocked nozzle, or carpet fibres jammed in the head — the motor sustains high current draw beyond the BMS protection threshold. The BMS disconnects the cell to prevent damage, then resets after a few seconds once current drops. Clear the blockage, check the filter, and try again. If the trip repeats on a clean vacuum with a fully charged cell, measure resting cell voltage — it should read above 7.2V before use.
