Shark SV735 — 9.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (1028FK)
This is a 9.6V Ni-MH battery pack rated at 2000mAh (19.2Wh), built to fit the Shark SV735 cordless stick vacuum. It replaces OEM part 1028FK when the original cell no longer holds a charge or powers the motor through a full cleaning cycle. Swap it in and the vacuum returns to full cordless operation.
- SV735 platform fit: The SV735 uses a 9.6V Ni-MH pack with a specific connector orientation and cell count. This replacement matches that voltage rail and connector, so the vacuum's motor circuit and charge contacts engage correctly without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the SV735 platform. The BMS held the cutoff voltage correctly under motor load, and the charger accepted the pack without handshake errors across multiple cycles.
- Dock charging discipline on the SV735: The SV735 charging dock does not cut power once the pack is full. Leaving the vacuum docked continuously forces a trickle charge into the Ni-MH cells, which accelerates capacity fade. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the SV735
This happens when the motor draws more current than rated due to a restricted airflow path — blocked filters are the most common cause. The pack voltage sags under that elevated draw, and the motor slows before the battery indicator registers a low-charge state. The indicator reads cell voltage at rest, not under load, so the two can diverge significantly. Clean or replace the foam and felt filters first, then retest; motor speed should stabilise through the full charge cycle.
Motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is restricted — clogged filter, blocked nozzle, or dense carpet pile — the motor pulls sustained high current and the BMS cuts output to protect the cells. The pack recovers once current demand drops, which is why the motor restarts after a pause. Clear the blockage and check the filter condition; if the cutout stops occurring after that, the pack is functioning correctly. If it trips on an unobstructed hard floor, verify the pack voltage reads at least 9.0V under load with a multimeter.
