Shark XIABTR540 — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 18V lithium-ion battery replaces the Shark XIABTR540 and XIABTR540EU cells found in Shark cordless vacuum cleaners. Capacity is 3750mAh (67.5Wh), matching the original cell specification. It restores full motor voltage to handheld and upright Shark cordless models running the 18V battery platform.
- 18V cordless vacuum platform: These Shark models share a common 18V rail and BMS handshake. The replacement cell carries the same voltage profile so the vacuum's motor controller sees the battery as original and does not restrict power output.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through sustained suction cycles and monitored the BMS under load. Overcurrent protection tripped correctly at high draw, and the cell recovered cleanly to full charge voltage after each discharge.
- Dock charging habit on Shark cordless vacuums: Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock permanently. Shark cordless vacuums on continuous dock charge develop capacity fade faster than those charged only when the battery is depleted. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock.
Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low
The suction indicator reads mid-charge but the motor sounds weak and pickup drops noticeably. This happens because a partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, causing voltage to sag at the cell before the indicator registers depletion. The BMS reads this as a normal load drop and does not flag it as low battery. Check and clean the filter first — if suction restores immediately, the battery was not the cause.
Motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is restricted — by a blockage, a full dust cup, or a clogged filter — the motor spins harder to compensate, pulling current above the BMS threshold. The BMS cuts the circuit to protect the cell, and it resets after the load is removed. Clear the blockage, empty the dust cup, and confirm the filter is seated correctly before using the vacuum again.
