FG-3000 BMS lockout after the gauge sat unused in a carry case for months
Ni-MH cells self-discharge slowly even when the instrument is off. If the FG-3000 sits unused long enough, the pack drops below the BMS recovery threshold and the gauge will not power on or accept a charge. Connect the gauge to its charger and leave it for 30–60 minutes — the BMS needs to see a trickle input before it opens the charge circuit. If the original pack has been in storage more than six months, recovery is often not possible and replacement is the faster path.
Readings resetting or dropping to zero mid-logging session
This happens when sustained sensor load pulls the cell voltage below the FG-3000's operating floor — not a full shutdown, but a momentary dropout that resets the active reading. A worn cell holds its resting voltage but collapses under load. A fresh FG-3BAT pack at 3.6V holds the supply rail steady through a continuous logging run. After fitting the replacement, confirm resting voltage reads at or above 3.6V before starting a logged session.
