A mismatched cell trips the protection circuit and prevents charging.

The haptic bass circuit drew sustained current without triggering false overcurrent cutoff.
- First-cycle calibration on the Crusher Evo: After fitting the new cell, charge to full before powering on the headphones. The Crusher Evo's fuel gauge IC recalibrates its capacity estimate on the first complete charge cycle — skipping this step causes the battery indicator to read inaccurately for several sessions.
Why the Crusher Evo cuts out mid-session with the bass slider engaged
The Sensory Bass haptic driver pulls additional current on top of the audio amplifier draw. When the cell voltage sags under that combined load — typically below 3.4V on a degraded or storage-discharged cell — the BMS trips and cuts power to protect the cell. This looks like a sudden shutdown rather than a gradual power-down. A fresh, fully charged cell holds voltage above the BMS cutoff threshold even under peak haptic draw.

A new cell shipped at storage voltage (typically 3.6–3.7V) can cause the Crusher Evo's fuel gauge IC to report an incorrect state-of-charge. The headphones appear fully charged but the usable capacity reads as near-empty after a short session. Run one complete charge cycle — charging uninterrupted until the indicator shows 100% — and the fuel gauge resets its baseline. After that first full cycle, the reported charge level tracks actual capacity correctly.
