This is a 3.7V, 400mAh lithium-polymer cell replacing OEM part FT822132P in the Skullcandy Hesh 3 wireless headphones. It restores Bluetooth audio playback when the original cell has degraded past the point of holding a usable charge. Dimensions are 32.26 × 20.25 × 7.10mm — measure your original before fitting.
- Hesh 3 fit: The Hesh 3 uses a compact Li-Polymer pouch cell at this specific footprint to sit flat inside the left ear cup housing. The connector orientation and cell dimensions must match exactly — this cell replicates the OEM footprint and connector to fit without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and playback on the Hesh 3 platform. The onboard BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the charge circuit brought it to 4.2V at full capacity without interruption.
- First-charge protocol for the Hesh 3: Charge the headphones fully via USB before the first listening session. The Hesh 3 firmware reads cell state during charging — a partial first cycle can cause the battery indicator to report inaccurately until a complete charge-discharge cycle has run.
Why the Hesh 3 cuts out mid-track on a new battery
The Hesh 3 runs Bluetooth radio and audio amplification simultaneously from a single 3.7V cell. When a degraded or newly installed cell sags under combined draw, the protection circuit trips before the nominal charge is exhausted. A new cell straight from storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — can trigger this on the first session. One full charge cycle before use brings the cell to operating voltage and stabilises the BMS response under load.
Talk time shorter than rated for the first few sessions
A fresh Li-Polymer pouch cell does not deliver full capacity on cycle one. Electrochemical activation across the polymer electrolyte takes three to five charge-discharge cycles to reach rated capacity. On the Hesh 3, this shows up as noticeably shorter playback in the first few uses before improving progressively. Run three complete charge and discharge cycles and the cell will reach its 400mAh rating.
