About this replacement
SkyGolf SkyCaddie Touch — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SPT-1301)
This 3.7V 1200mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original SPT-1301 battery in the SkyGolf SkyCaddie Touch handheld golf GPS. It restores power to the device when the factory cell can no longer hold a usable charge. Fits the SkyCaddie Touch and X8F-SCTouch variants.
- SkyCaddie Touch and X8F-SCTouch compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with identical connector pinout and BMS handshake requirements. One cell covers both variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the SkyCaddie Touch platform. The BMS accepted charge without fault flags and the GPS receiver initialised normally at full voltage.
- First-start cold acquisition tip: After fitting this cell, power the device on outdoors before your round. The GPS performs a cold start after any full power interruption — first satellite fix takes 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts after that drop to under a minute.
Why the SkyCaddie Touch shuts off without any low-battery warning
The SkyCaddie Touch reads the battery indicator from a stored charge curve calibrated to the original cell. When a degraded or new replacement cell has a slightly different discharge curve, the device can hit its voltage cutoff threshold before the on-screen indicator reaches the warning zone. This makes shutdown appear sudden even though the cell is behaving normally. After a few full charge-discharge cycles, the device recalibrates its reading against the new cell's actual curve and warnings reappear at the correct point.
Saved course data and POIs missing after battery swap
Some SkyCaddie Touch data — including downloaded course maps cached in battery-backed RAM — can be lost when the cell is fully removed and power drops to zero. This is a normal consequence of complete power interruption, not a device fault. To restore course data, reconnect to SkyGolf's course manager software and re-sync your course library over Wi-Fi or USB. Re-sync before your next round to avoid arriving at the course without map data loaded.
