Why the BD5000 shows a low-battery alert immediately after fitting a new cell
Somfy operators sample resting voltage against a stored threshold during the first power-on check. A new Ni-MH cell that has been sitting in warehouse storage can read below 5.4V — low enough to trigger the alert even though the cell isn't depleted. Run a full charge cycle using a compatible Ni-MH charger before installing the battery. After a complete charge, the resting voltage on this 6V cell should sit between 6.8V and 7.2V, which clears the threshold check on power-up.
BD5000 operator not reconnecting to the Somfy hub after battery swap
This is a hub-side pairing loss, not a battery fault. When power is cut to the motor unit — even briefly — the Somfy hub can drop the device from its active node list. Waiting 60 seconds handles a radio re-join, but if the hub doesn't rediscover the unit automatically, open the Somfy app and use the device discovery or re-pair function under the motor settings. Confirm the unit responds by sending a short up-command from the app — a single jog movement confirms the pairing is live.
