About this replacement
SOMMER base+ / pro+ / tiga / Aperto A550 L — 24V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (S10523-00002)
This is a 24V, 700mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for SOMMER garage door opener remote control systems. It fits the base+, pro+, tiga, and Aperto A550 L series wireless transmitters. When the original cell degrades, this replacement restores full wireless control without replacing the remote unit.
- base+ / pro+ / tiga / Aperto A550 L compatibility: These models share the same 24V power rail, physical pack dimensions (107.40 × 49.50 × 19.40mm), and connector layout — all draw from a common internal platform, so one battery fits the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the bench, confirmed the BMS holds the 24V nominal rail, and verified cell balance across the Ni-MH stack before dispatch.
- First charge after storage: Ni-MH cells lose charge during warehouse storage. Before pairing the remote, run a full charge cycle on the transmitter — a partial cell voltage at first power-on can cause the remote to fail its self-test and show no response at the receiver.
Why the SOMMER remote goes offline after a battery swap
SOMMER's smart remote transmitters run a handshake sequence with the receiver unit every time power is interrupted. After fitting a new battery, the transmitter needs up to 60 seconds to complete this re-join before it will respond to button presses. Pressing buttons during this window does nothing — it is not a pairing failure. Wait the full 60 seconds, then test the remote from within range of the garage receiver.
Low battery alert appears immediately after fitting a new cell
Ni-MH packs stored for extended periods self-discharge to a resting voltage below the receiver's low-battery alert threshold — even though the cell itself is not faulty. The SOMMER receiver reads this low resting voltage and triggers the alert before the pack has had a chance to recover. Fit the battery, place the remote on charge for a full cycle, and the alert will clear once the cell voltage climbs above the detection threshold. Do not assume the replacement pack is defective until after that first full charge.
