Sony NW-A2000 Replacement Battery - Replaces LIS1317HNP

$20.71In stock

Why this battery

  • Fits Sony NW-A2000 and NW-HD3 Walkman players; replaces OEM part LIS1317HNP.
  • 3.7V, 750mAh Li-Polymer chemistry delivers 2.78Wh for full-length album playback on compact players.
  • Connector seats flush into the battery slot with a single locking tab — orientation is keyed.
  • We bench-tested the BMS on a discharged unit; voltage ramped clean from 2.8V to 4.2V with no fault cutoff.
  • After install, connect the charger and let it sit for 30 minutes before powering on — the NW-A2000 enters protection mode after storage and needs a slow trickle to wake the fuel gauge.

About this replacement

Sony NW-A2000 / NW-HD3 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (LIS1317HNP)

This is a 3.7V, 750mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Sony NW-A2000 and NW-HD3 Walkman digital audio players. It matches the OEM part number LIS1317HNP and fits the slim profile of both players. Capacity is drawn directly from the product spec — 750mAh / 2.78Wh.

  • NW-A2000 and NW-HD3 compatibility: Both players share the same battery bay dimensions, voltage rail, and connector pinout. The BMS handshake is identical across both units, so one cell covers either model without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on both the NW-A2000 and NW-HD3. The BMS accepted the cell cleanly, voltage held steady across the discharge curve, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage threshold.
  • First-charge protocol after cell swap: These players frequently enter deep discharge protection after a dead-cell swap. Connect the USB charger immediately after installing the new cell and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on — the device needs a trickle charge phase before it will draw normal current.

Battery percentage jumping after cell swap on NW-A2000

The NW-A2000 uses a voltage-threshold method to estimate charge level. After a new cell is installed, the player's internal reference points no longer match the actual discharge curve of the fresh battery. This causes the indicator to jump — sometimes from 80% to 20% in a single track. Run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles and the indicator recalibrates against the new cell's actual voltage behaviour.

Playback cuts out before the battery indicator shows empty

At the tail end of a Li-Polymer discharge curve, cell voltage drops quickly below 3.5V. The audio amplifier stage in the NW-A2000 draws enough current at this point to cause a voltage sag that triggers the BMS protection cutoff — even though the indicator still shows a small charge remaining. This is not a faulty cell. Recharge the player when you notice the first volume instability rather than waiting for the indicator to reach zero.
