Sony Tablet S / Tablet P1 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SGPBP01)
This is a 3.7V, 3000mAh Li-ion battery built to the SGPBP01 specification. It fits the Sony Tablet S series, including the SGPT211CN, SGPT212, SGPT213JP, and Tablet P1 variants. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge through a normal session of browsing or reading.
- SGPT211CN / SGPT212 / SGPT213JP compatibility: These models share the same single-cell 3.7V architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — so one cell fits across the group without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Tablet S platform. The BMS accepted the cell, completed a full charge cycle without fault flags, and voltage held steady under display-plus-WiFi load.
- First cycle after installation: After fitting this battery, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff — do not force it off — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the fuel gauge IC against the new cell and eliminates the inaccurate percentage readings that almost always appear after a swap.
Tablet S shutting down at 15–25% remaining
This happens because the fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old, degraded cell. The voltage curve on the new cell drops steeply below roughly 3.5V under combined display and WiFi load — faster than the gauge predicts. The tablet interprets this as a critical low-battery condition and cuts power early. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the gauge against the actual cell curve and resolves the premature cutoff.
Percentage jumping or drifting immediately after a battery swap
The Sony Tablet S reads state-of-charge through a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that tracks data from the original cell. A new cell resets that history, so the reported percentage can jump, stall, or drop suddenly in the first few charges. This is not a faulty battery — it is a calibration gap. Run one complete discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, the gauge locks onto the new cell's actual capacity curve and the percentage display stabilises.
