It matches the stock voltage rail and connector pinout so the phone's charge IC and fuel gauge IC can communicate normally with the new cell. Capacity is rated at 11.17Wh.
- XZ2 variant coverage: The XZ2 sold across AU, JP, and EU markets shares the same battery bay dimensions and BMS handshake protocol — 73.80 × 52.80 × 4.80mm, same four-pin flex connector, same charge-termination voltage at 4.35V. All listed variants pull from the same replacement cell.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the XZ2's charge IC at both standard and Qnovo adaptive charging rates. Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Xperia XZ2 after a cell swap
The XZ2's fuel gauge IC holds a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve does not match the new cell's actual voltage-versus-capacity profile. The gauge reads 25% remaining, but the new cell hits its voltage floor under modem or display load before that figure reaches zero. The phone interprets this as a hard undervoltage event and shuts down. One full uninterrupted discharge-charge cycle at standard rate rewrites the coulomb counter reference and eliminates premature cutoff.
USB-PD fast charge not activating on the first charge after replacement
After a cell swap, the XZ2's charge IC runs an impedance check on the new cell before it steps up to fast-charge current. If the cell's internal impedance reads outside the expected window on the first cycle — common on a cold or fully discharged replacement — the IC defaults to standard 5V/1A charging as a precaution. This is not a fault. Disconnect, let the phone sit at room temperature for ten minutes, then reconnect. Fast charging typically activates from the second or third charge cycle once the IC has logged the new cell's impedance baseline.
