This is an 11.1V 5200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Soundcast VG5 portable Bluetooth speaker. It matches the original VG5Ba part number and fits directly into the VG5 battery bay. Capacity is sourced from the product specification — 57.72Wh at the rated cell voltage.
- VG5 platform fit: The VG5 runs a three-cell Li-ion pack at 11.1V nominal to power both the amplifier board and the Bluetooth radio from a single rail. This replacement matches that cell configuration, so the onboard BMS accepts it without a handshake error.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge while monitoring the BMS cutoff thresholds. The protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage floor before the cells entered the unsafe depletion zone, and the charger accepted the pack without fault flags.
- Fuel gauge calibration on the VG5: Discharge the VG5 to below 20% at least once a month before recharging. Constant top-off charging without a full discharge cycle causes the fuel gauge to drift — the indicator reads full while actual cell capacity has already dropped.
Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty on the VG5
The VG5 amplifier draws a sharp current spike at high volume. When the cell is partially depleted, internal resistance rises enough that this spike causes a voltage sag on the 11.1V rail. The amplifier clips under that sag before the battery indicator registers low. If you hear distortion at moderate-to-high volume with charge still showing, the cell's internal resistance has risen — not the capacity alone. A new pack with lower internal resistance restores clean headroom at the amplifier input.
VG5 not waking from USB charge after sitting unused for weeks
Li-ion cells left in deep discharge drop below the minimum acceptance voltage that the charger's PD negotiation requires. The VG5 will not respond to a USB connection at all in this state — no LED, no charge indicator. Connect the speaker to the charger and leave it untouched for 15–30 minutes; the BMS recovery circuit slowly trickle-charges the cell back above the acceptance threshold before switching to normal charge current. If the LED still does not respond after 30 minutes, the cell has dropped below recovery voltage and the pack needs replacement.
