Spengler Pression Arterielle Pro-H — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (110831)
This is a 4.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Spengler Pression Arterielle Pro-H portable automated blood pressure monitor. It replaces OEM part number 110831. The battery powers the oscillometric measurement circuit that captures systolic and diastolic readings during clinical use.
- Pro-H power rail compatibility: The Pro-H runs its inflation pump, pressure sensor, and display from a single 4.8V Ni-MH cell pack. The BMS handshake is chemistry-specific — swapping to any other chemistry or voltage trips a fault state the device cannot self-clear without a full reboot.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Pro-H's full self-test sequence, including pump inflation and sensor calibration. The BMS accepted the cell and cleared all status flags after one complete charge-discharge cycle.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the Pro-H to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification pass at startup — cutting power mid-sequence plants a false battery fault that will persist across subsequent boots until the device completes a clean, uninterrupted startup.
Low battery alarm on the Pro-H immediately after a confirmed full charge
The Pro-H BMS sets its low-battery threshold based on internal resistance and voltage profile, not charge state alone. A fresh Ni-MH cell has slightly higher internal resistance than a conditioned one, which causes the BMS to flag it as borderline even when fully charged. This clears after one or two complete charge-discharge cycles, which calibrate the BMS to the new cell's actual impedance. If the alarm persists beyond three cycles, check that the charger is reaching the full 4.8V terminal voltage before declaring a fault.
Pro-H will not power on after the battery sat in storage
Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day unprotected. A battery stored for several months can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 3.6V for a 4.8V pack — and the device will not boot at all, not even to show a low-battery indicator. Place the battery on charge for a full cycle before attempting to power on the device. If the charger shows no activity, the cell may need a slow trickle charge at 0.1C to recover enough voltage for the BMS to re-initialise.
