Spypoint FLEX / FLEX E-36 / FLEX G-36 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LIT-22)
This 7.4V 7000mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original LIT-22 unit in the Spypoint FLEX, FLEX Cellular, FLEX E-36, and FLEX G-36 trail cameras. It fits the same connector and communicates with the same BMS as the factory cell. Capacity figures are taken directly from the product specification — 51.8Wh total energy storage.
- FLEX series platform fit: The FLEX, FLEX E-36, and FLEX G-36 all run the same 7.4V power rail and share the LIT-22 footprint and connector pinout. Swapping between these models requires no adapter or wiring change — the BMS handshake is identical across the series.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the FLEX platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without fault codes. Cellular transmission bursts and motion-trigger events drew stable current without triggering low-voltage cutoff at operating temperature.
- Cold-field storage tip: If the camera sits in sub-zero temperatures for days between checks, remove the battery and store it in a warm inner pocket during travel to the site. Li-ion cells lose 15–25% usable capacity at 0°C and up to 40% at −20°C. A warm battery inserted just before you leave the camera recovers significantly more of that rated 7000mAh in the field.
Why the FLEX drains faster in winter than the specs suggest
Li-ion chemistry slows its electrochemical reactions as temperature drops. At 0°C, internal resistance rises sharply and the BMS throttles available current to protect the cell — the camera reads lower remaining voltage and may shut down before the cell is actually empty. The FLEX's cellular radio compounds this: each transmission burst pulls a concentrated current spike that a cold cell handles less efficiently than a warm one. Keeping the battery above 5°C before installation is the single most effective way to recover rated capacity in winter conditions.
FLEX shows full bars on install, then shuts off within hours
This usually means the battery sat in a cold camera long enough for cell voltage to sag below the BMS minimum boot threshold — even if the charger previously showed a full charge. The BMS can misread a cold, high-resistance cell as charged when voltage recovers briefly off-load. Warm the battery to room temperature, then charge it fully until the charger indicates complete. Reinstall with the battery at or above 10°C and check that the terminal voltage reads at least 8.2V with a multimeter before seating it in the camera.
