- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state — preventing erratic percentage readings from the first charge onward.
Why the SC560 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The SC560's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the previous cell. When a new cell goes in, the IC still references that old curve, which causes the displayed percentage to drift from actual state of charge. The fix is one uninterrupted full discharge down to automatic shutdown, followed by a full charge to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, the IC recalibrates its coulomb counter against the new cell. Percentage accuracy stabilises from the second cycle onward.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Swisstone SC560
This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under modem or display load — a voltage cliff the fuel gauge didn't predict from the old curve. The phone's power IC interprets the sudden sag as a critical low-voltage event and cuts power before the displayed percentage reaches zero. It is not a faulty cell. Run one full calibration cycle as described above — the fuel gauge IC will learn where the actual voltage cliff sits on this cell and adjust the shutdown threshold accordingly. If the shutdowns continue past the third cycle, check that the battery contacts on the SC560 chassis are clean and making full contact.
