Symbol MC55 / MC65 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTRY-MC55EAB02)
This is a 3.7V, 3600mAh lithium-ion battery for the Symbol MC55, MC55A, MC56, and MC65 handheld mobile computers. It replaces OEM part numbers BTRY-MC55EAB02, 82-111094-01, and U60493. The battery slots into the same compartment as the original and uses the same connector and contact layout.
- MC55 / MC65 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay geometry, contact pin arrangement, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the full MC55 and MC65 lines without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on an MC55A unit, running combined scan trigger and 802.11b/g wireless polling. The BMS held stable across charge and discharge, with no protection cutoff trips during normal scan bursts.
- First-shift preparation on pick-and-pack lines: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before deploying it on the floor. Scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum voltage — a fully charged pack prevents false BMS trips during the first heavy scan shift.

A charging error on the dock does not always mean a faulty battery. Cradle contacts on the MC55 accumulate oxidation and debris from warehouse floors, which raises contact resistance enough for the dock to flag a fault. Remove the scanner, wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly. If the error clears within 30 seconds of reseating, contact resistance was the cause — not the cell.
Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The MC55 runs its 802.11 radio and scan engine simultaneously, and the combined inrush during a rapid scan burst pulls more current than either subsystem does alone. If the cell voltage sags below the radio's minimum rail during that combined draw, the wireless session drops mid-scan. This is more common when the battery is below 20% state of charge. Keep the pack above that threshold during shifts, and the radio will hold its connection through sustained scanning.
