About this replacement
Taurus 948178 / Crossback 29.6 — 29.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (093587000)
This is a 29.6V 2600mAh lithium-ion replacement battery for the Taurus 948178 and Crossback 29.6 cordless stick vacuum. It replaces OEM part numbers 093587000, 93587000, and ZL-960S0822. Voltage and cell count match the original pack exactly.
- 948178 and Crossback 29.6 compatibility: Both models run the same 29.6V battery rail and use the same BMS handshake protocol. The connector and cell configuration are identical across both platforms, so the same replacement pack covers either unit.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack under sustained motor load and cycled it through repeated charge and discharge passes. The BMS held cutoff thresholds correctly and did not trip under normal cleaning draw.
- Dock charging behaviour on this vacuum: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock permanently. Taurus cordless stick vacuums on continuous dock charge develop capacity fade faster than units charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
On the 948178, suction can fall off noticeably while the battery indicator still shows mid-charge. This is not always a battery fault. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw higher current than rated, which causes the BMS to throttle output to protect the cells. Clean or replace the filter first, then retest. If suction recovers, the battery was reacting to restricted airflow rather than losing capacity.
Motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a few seconds
This pattern — cut out, brief pause, restart — is a BMS overcurrent trip. It happens when sustained suction restriction spikes motor draw above the pack's rated output threshold. The BMS interrupts current, resets after a short delay, and allows the motor to restart. Check the filter and brush roll for blockages before assuming the battery is faulty. If the motor runs cleanly after clearing the restriction, the BMS is working as intended.
