Low battery alarm firing immediately after a confirmed full charge
Terumo infusion pumps apply a charge-verification threshold calibrated to the internal resistance profile of a conditioned OEM cell. A new replacement cell presents a slightly different impedance signature on the first cycle, which the BMS can misread as insufficient charge state. The device then triggers its low battery alarm even though the cell is at full voltage. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle before clinical use — after that single conditioning cycle, the BMS recalibrates its threshold to the new cell and the alarm clears.
Pump will not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the resting voltage drops below approximately 2.5V per cell (5.0V at pack level), the BMS locks the output circuit as a deep-discharge protection measure. The pump receives no power and shows no response at power-on. Place the battery on charge for a minimum of two to four hours before attempting to boot the device — most BMS controllers require the pack to reach at least 6.0V before they release the protection latch and allow the pump to initialise.
