Audio distortion before the battery indicator reaches empty on the Boomster 2020
As the 11.1V pack discharges toward its lower threshold, internal resistance rises. At moderate-to-high volume levels, the amplifier draws sharp current spikes that the weakening pack cannot supply without voltage sag. That sag causes the amplifier rail to dip momentarily, producing clipping and distortion — even when the battery indicator still shows charge remaining. This is a cell-level issue, not a speaker fault. A fresh pack with lower internal resistance eliminates the sag. If distortion starts above 60% charge on the original battery, the cells have degraded past recovery.
Boomster 2020 not waking from USB-C charge after sitting unused for weeks
Li-ion cells left discharged for extended periods can drop below the minimum acceptance voltage for USB-C Power Delivery negotiation — typically around 2.5V per cell, or 7.5V for the full three-cell pack. When cell voltage falls below that threshold, the charger does not initiate and the speaker shows no signs of life. Some chargers with a trickle pre-charge mode can recover the pack slowly over several hours at a low current. If the pack does not respond after two hours on a trickle-capable charger, the cells have over-discharged beyond safe recovery and the pack should be replaced.
