This happens when the fuel gauge has drifted after months of shallow cycling — the device reports 100% but the cell's actual capacity is a fraction of that. The Tigerbox Touch's BMS will hard-cut the output once cell voltage sags below its minimum threshold, even if the indicator still shows bars. A full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% is the first step. If the cutout persists after two of those cycles, the original cell has degraded past recovery and replacement is the fix.
Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty
The Tigerbox Touch's amplifier draws a sharp current spike at higher volume levels. As the cell ages and internal resistance rises, that spike causes a momentary voltage sag — the amplifier clips because it can't draw enough current cleanly, and you hear distortion before the battery indicator shows low. A fresh cell with lower internal resistance eliminates the sag. After fitting this replacement, confirm the issue is resolved by playing at full volume when the battery reads between 30–40%; if distortion is gone at that point, the old cell's resistance was the cause.
